Bear Down: The Season So Far

The season is just about ¾ of the way through, and it has been an emotional rollercoaster. There have been many exciting games, some with good endings, some without.
The Raiders game is my personal favorite, as it was our first win. The Vikings game was my least favorite, and it was at home. In the Raiders game we were down for the whole game, but then Jay Cutler and Co. drove the length of the field for the win. It was our first win of the season, and a sweet one. In the Vikings game, it was back and forth the whole game, with no clear team for the win. In the end, we deserved to lose, and lose we did, as the Bears did not play up to par. The Chargers game was another game that we won with luck, but I will take any win by any means, especially when they are sparse. The Rams game was an easy win 37-13, nothing to it. Don’t even get me started on the Broncos game. We had many chances to beat them, but instead scored our first and last touchdown in the final seconds, then missed the 2 point conversion to tie the game and send it into overtime.
On Thanksgiving, we played our biggest rival, the Green Bay Packers. We shockingly won, considering that we haven’t beaten them in 2 years. They had a chance to tie the overall record we between them and us that we have led for 82 years, but failed. The final score was 17-13, and we almost lost in the final seconds, but pulled through. This win is by far the most important, shocking, and enjoyable of the season so far. This has the potential to carry us all the way to the playoffs (crazy to think we have a chance for the playoffs) if we beat the next 5 teams we face, and other key teams such as Seattle and Atlanta lose some as well.
The next 2 games we face the 49ers and Redskins, (both easy wins and at home,). We then go on a road trip to Minnesota for a chance at revenge, and then to Tampa to run them out of their own stadium (should be an easy win). Finally, we come back home to face the Lions in frigid Chicago-in-January temperatures. The season seems like an easy ending except for the Vikings. Like I said earlier, these last 5 games are crucial that we win, but the very worst we can do is 4-1, if we lose to the Vikings.
Looking to next year, it looks very hopefully, with a strong coaching staff and lots of cap space. We should be able to get some talented free agents, and draft talented players. I look forward to next season, but we still have this season to hope. BEAR DOWN, and we’ll get to the playoffs, and will witness a few playoff berths in the years to come.
